With a heavy heart....
My sweet boy Flat Stanley apparently ingested some kind of toxin which took him quickly and unexpectedly Monday morning around 4:30am. The vets did their best for several hours to try and revive him, but to no avail.
Rare that he would have found any poison as he was with me 24/7 and I was always so careful as he was my Service Dog… essential medical equipment. I clean with steam and have no toxic products in the house. The autopsy should indicate what kind of toxin it was, perhaps a plant or mushroom. I should know by the end of the week.
Flat Stanley was not in any way a pet. I trained him myself for 7 years to mitigate my physical and CPTSD disabilities - the span of his short life - and we visited 14 countries together in that time, 4 years in Spain. He was the first dog in history to be allowed to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Many amazing adventures together. He took great care of me, and I am gutted and in shock… my heart is devastated.
In time I will start seeking another service dog, which is a bit more complicated and expensive in Spain than in the US. Even cremation runs upwards of $450US.
I have been so moved by the gestures of love and support I have reveived from around the globe in the last 24 hours. Some dear Massachusetts friends have created a GoFundMe Memorial Campaign for Flat Stanley to help cover all the expenses. Here is the link for anyone interested. https://www.gofundme.com/f/flat-stanley
Thank you all for your kindness and care.

I am so sorry to hear about Flat Stanley. From the photos, it is clear that he truly was a beautiful companion. I am so sorry for your loss.
